INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, MANDYA DISTRICT BRANCH
Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya District Branch rejuvenated on 19/9/2000 with the formation of Adhoc Committee under the Chairmanship of Sri.L.K.Atheeq, I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Mandya. The office functions at District Hospital, Mandya as Dr.T.Parthasarathy, District Surgeon is the Honorary Secretary for the Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya.
Hon’ble Government of Karnataka and President, Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch, Her Excellency Smt.V.S.Ramadevi inaugurated Mandya District Branch on 6th November 2000. Having 430 new life members, Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya, now has the following Regular Managing Committee from 1/3/2001.
Membership fee for life member is Rs.250/- Vice patron Rs.2,000/- and Patron Rs.10,000/-. Application forms can be obtained from the office at District Hospital, Mandya. The Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya being committed to “peace through humanity,” in association with Rotary, I.M.A., M.V.S.S., District Hospital, Mandya and other Non-Government Organisations in Mandya has been organising various Health care activities in the District.
During the short period (1)Seven Voluntary Blood Donation and Blood Grouping camps were held. (2) Health checkup camps in the villages, Jail inmates and for building Labourers (3) AIDS awareness camps and lecture (4) Cancer detection camps for women in particular (5)De-addiction camps for chronic alcoholics and arthritis camps (6_Diabetic camps are being conducted in various parts of the district. The Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch, Mandya has organised Seminars on 1)”prevention and Management of “Road Traffic accidents” 2)”AIDS and its Awareness’ for opinion makers such as Executive Members of various NGO’s of Mandya and Press Media Personnel.
Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya has assisted District Tuberculosis Society, in launching of DOT (Directly Observed Treatment) under RNTCP, Mandya on Worlds Tuberculosis Day.
PLANS IN THE NEAR FUTURE:
1)Indian Red Cross Society, Mandya will be getting its own Land shortly and plan to build the house office, Seminar Hall, Blood Bank etc.
2)Formation of Adhoc Committees for Taluk Branches of Indian Red Cross Society in the district.
3)Training for FIRST AID Services.
4)More and more health care activities such as voluntary Blood Donation camps, AIDS awareness Programme and Health checkup camps.
5)District Disaster Management Programmes.
